Crawford County, Iowa, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Emergency Management Coordinator.

Role Description

This full-time position plans processes and procedures, coordinates drills, provides training, writes plans, applies for grants, and works with other agencies to develop and implement emergency, security, and disaster management programs.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent and two years in disaster planning and research, public safety, public administration, military preparedness or related work or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training with knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the duties.

• Valid driver’s license and insurable under the county’s liability coverage.

• Must reside in Crawford County within six months of hire.

• Knowledge of communication systems, frequencies and equipment capabilities.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

• Strong communication, organizational and leadership abilities

• Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and safety standards

• Experience with budgeting and resource management

Special Requirements

• Knowledge of ArcView GIS and MS Office Suite products

• Able to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy equipment up to 50 pounds

• Ability to work and operate in various hazardous situations, including adverse weather, environmental factors, unsafe atmosphere, dust, noise, heat, and cold temperatures which may cause discomfort and pose a risk of injury.

Salary: $56,856-$80,000
